Ann Van
Dusen
December 12, 1935 – January 8, 2013
Ann Marie (Brennan) Van Dusen died January 8 at Piedmont Henry Hospital. Affectionately known by many as "Miss Ann," she often was accompanied by her brother Paul, whom she had taken care of since the death of her parents. Born December 12, 1935 in Washington, D.C. – a distinction that she often reminded friends of – being one of the few people who were born in the US but not in any state. Ann and her family moved to Butts County in 1976, first settling in Indian Springs and later moving to Jackson. She worked as the post master of the Indian Springs post office, Director of Grounds and Housekeeping at Tift College, and retired as Director of Purchasing for Sylvan Grove Hospital. Ann's pride and joy, and the apple of her eye was her only grandchild, Tyler; which she would let you know in passing was the valedictorian of his high school class and studying to be a neurosurgeon at Emory University. She was a faithful Christian, who throughout her life was actively involved in children's ministry. One of her most sincere wishes was that all children come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Arthur, daughter Cindy and son-in-law Paul Hemmann and grandson, Tyler all of Jackson. She is also survived by her daughter Lani of Logan, Utah, as well as one sister, Deane Patak of Live Oak, FL, one brother, Michael Brennan of Bristol, VA and serveral nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Marie (Swaim) and Paul J. Brennan, Sr., her brother, Paul J. Brennan Jr., and her sister Deanna Hanlon. A memorial service will be held for Ann Van Dusen at Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home on Saturday, January 19 11:00 a.m. The family will begin receiving at 10:00 a.m. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfh.com. Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home, 212 East College Street, Jackson, is serving the Van Dusen family.
