Mr. Billy Rose, age 69, passed away Sunday September 6, 2009 at a local health care facility. Mr. Rose is a native of Buchanan Co. Virginia, but had made his home in Lamar County for a number of years. He is the son of Belle and Roscoe Ball. Mr. Rose is a Retired Sgt. 1st Class with United States Army. Mr. Rose is also a former Barnesville Police Officer and Lamar County Sheriff's Deputy. He also formerly served as the Milner Police Chief. Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his wife Mattie Louise Blackmon Rose.

Survivors include sons William Donald Rose, David Karl and Paula O. Rose, Billy Dewayne Rose Jr. and Samantha Rose, and David Colby Rose. Sisters Judy and Dewell Stephens, Janice and Shine Dotson, Jeanette Sykes, Hattie and Doug Murray, Ida Gay and Lee Miller, Mary and Eddie Boyd, Shelia and Ralph Street. Special friends Carol Murdock, Andrea Murdock, Drew Murdock, and Zane Scott. He is also survived by his 6 grand children and 3 great grand children.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Billy Rose will be conducted Friday, September 11, 2009 at 2 PM in the Greenwood Cemetery, with the Rev. James King officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM.
