Mr. Carl Edward Highlan, age 78, of Monticello, GA, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015 at his residence. He was born on Friday, October 30, 1936 in Valparaiso, Indiana to the late Cecil Highlan and the late Hazel Proffitt Highlan. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Mapes, and brother, Vernon Highlan. Carl retired from U.S. Steel and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Highlan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Murray Highlan; daughters, Lisa Highlan and Sherry Highlan; grandchildren, Joshua Lovingood and Sherese Denta; great-granddaughter, Jacquelyn Lovingood; brothers, Gordon Highlan, Charles Highlan, and Roy Highlan; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Carl Highlan will be conducted on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jim Ross officiating.
