Mr. Carl Edward Waits, age 85, of Jackson, GA, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Piedmont Henry Medical Center.

Mr. Waits was born on Sunday, March 24, 1929 in Monticello, Georgia to the late Joseph Hubert Waits and the late Ruth Carey Waits. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara James, Edith Jones and Shirley Waits; brothers, Hugh Waits and Guy Waits. Carl was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was the owner and operator of Waits Service Station. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons. Carl enjoyed spending time with his grandson.

Mr. Waits is survived by his wife of 59 years, JoAnn Dunn Waits; children, Brian Waits, Byron and Stacy Waits, Bradley Waits and Carla Waits; grandchildren; Eli Waits and Zakk Richards; sisters and brother-in-law, Madelyn Bryans, Emily and Hayward Stringfellow; brothers and sister-in-law, Jimmy "Bubba" Waits, Eugene and Jeanette Waits; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Carl Waits will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Reverend Ricky Stubbs officiating. Interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery in Monticello. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
