Mrs. Carolyn Gilbert Mackey, of Jackson, GA, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at Spalding Regional Medical Center. She was born June 17, 1931 in Jackson, GA to the late James Hugh Gilbert and the late Bessie Heath Gilbert. Carolyn enjoyed cooking, traveling to the mountains, and loved spending time with her family, especially her granchildren. She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Mrs. Mackey is survived by her husband, Charles "Toots" Mackey; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Rick Stewart, Kathy and Bill Kitchens, all of Jackson; grandchildren, Jeff Stewart, of Jackson, Beth Speigner, of Dunwoody, Teri Kyle and Dale Kitchens, both of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Austin Kyle, Maci Kyle, Kalee Kitchens, all of Jackson, Nora Speigner, Emerson Speigner and George Speigner, all of Dunwoody; and her dog, Millie. Funeral services for Carolyn Mackey will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Dr. Benny Tate officiating. Interment will be at Jackson City Cemetery.
