Obituary

Mrs. Christine Fordham Mathews, age 90, of Barnesville, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016 in a Spalding County Healthcare Facility. Born in Hall County, she had lived most of her life in Barnesville. She was the daughter of the late Mr. David Cleveland Fordham and the late Mrs. Mae Lovejoy Fordham, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Julius Mathews, by her brothers, J.C. Fordham, Lake Fordham, Roy Fordham, & Robert Fordham ; & by her sisters, Anne Stanley, Hazel Trice, & Dot Denton. Mrs. Mathews Retired as a Seamstress from The William Carter Company. After her retirement, she sat with the elderly. Mrs. Mathews was a member of the Barnesville Church of the Nazarene, as well as being a member of the VFW Auxiliary, First Friends, and attended the Lamar County Senior Center three days a week.


Survivors include: 2 Sons – Bobby (& Louise) Mathews, & Larry (& Susan) Mathews ; 1 Daughter – Peggy (& Carl) Cone ; 8 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 1 Brother – Tommy Fordham ; & Several Nieces, Nephews, & other relatives.


Funeral Services for Mrs. Christine Mathews will be conducted Monday, August 8, 2016 at 2 O'Clock in the Barnesville Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 5pm until 7pm.
