Mr. David Searcy Smith Sr., 64, of Barnesville passed away Friday, October 24, 2014.

Mr. Smith was born January 6, 1950 in Thomaston, and was the son of the late David Augustus Smith and Mary Searcy Smith. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Barnesville Rotary Club. Mr. Smith retired as a claims adjuster from Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance Company after 32 years. He was a graduate of the University of West Georgia, and he also served in the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Barbara S. Smith of Barnesville, daughter, Shannon Celeste Scarborough of Milner, sons, William Brandon Smith of Barnesville and David Searcy Smith Jr. of Forsyth, and three grandchildren, William Brayden Smith, Joseph Connor Scarborough and Madison Nicole Scarborough.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Dana Overton-Garrett officiating. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that contributions be made in memory of Mr. David Searcy Smith Sr. to the First United Methodist, 375 Thomaston Street, Barnesville, GA 30204, or to the Hope Tree Ministries, P.O.
