Mr. Dewey James "Buddy" Whitener, age 84, of Barnesville, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Whitener was born on Sunday, July 22, 1934 to the late Lewis Whitener and Oscar & Lois Bean. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Louise Bridger Whitener; son-in-law, Clay Cordle; daughter-in-law, Janice Whitener. He retired from Chastain Trucking where he worked as a truck driver.

Mr. Whitener is survived by his daughter, Shelley Cordle; son and daughter-in-law, Danny Whitener, Chris Whitener, Kerry Whitener, and Steve and Faith Whitener; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and George Graff.

A memorial service for Mr. Dewey James "Buddy" Whitener will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Benny Tate officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service.
