Mrs. Drusilla "Dru" Chastain Hunter, age 74, of Barnesville, Georgia passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Sunny Grove Assisted Living in Barnesville after an extended battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
She was the daughter of the late Noel Grady and Martha Gertrude Wilkins Chastain. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she enjoyed rocking babies in the nursery. Dru worked for twenty-five years at Riverdale High School where she served students lunches each day. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Hunter, her Mother and Father-in-law Orley Loran Hunter and Mildred Elizabeth Thomas Hunter, her brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Linda Chastain, brother-in-law William Hunter, her brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Christine Rogers, brother-in-law Oscar Kimsey, her brother and sister-in-law James and Lorene Hunter, and several nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer (Greg) Greenwood of Concord and Janet (Jon) Tolbert of Milner; grandchildren, Jesse Greenwood of Alvaton, Julie Greenwood of Dahlonega, Abby Greenwood of Oakwood, Joel (Rose) Greenwood of Thomaston, Rachel Greenwood of Concord, and Michael Greenwood of Concord; sisters Doris Hart of Blue Ridge, Jean Kimsey of Harlem, Dee Lawrence (Charles) of Douglasville, and brother Ken (Patty) Chastain of Seattle, WA, and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Drusilla "Dru" Chastain Hunter will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in Breedlove Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joe Durham officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at 4:00 P.M. at Morganton Methodist Church Cemetery in Morganton, Georgia.
