Mr. Edwin Dee "Ed" Greer, age 75 passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, at his home in Barnesville. Mr. Greer was born in Texarkana, Arkansas on Sunday, December 14, 1947, to the late Margaret Frances Farmer and Elmo Dee Greer, Jr.

Ed served in the U.S. Army from 1967 – 1969. He was employed with Georgia Power for 33 years. Mr. Greer also served both Lamar County and City of Barnesville with the fire departments for 23 years. Upon his retirement in 2013 he was Captain for the county and Lieutenant for the city.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Sharon Greer. His brothers and spouses, Ted Greer and Rick Greer (Sarah); 6 children and spouses, Deann Brannon (Richard), Eric Greer, Dwayne Greer, and stepdaughters Laura Swords Chassevent, Linda Cantrell, Crystal Mullen; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; special friends Kelvin and Denise Shute.

Memorial Service for Mr. Edwin Dee Greer will be Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:30 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Barnesville with Reverend Matthew Smith officiating. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at First Baptist Church of Barnesville.
