Obituary

Ms. Elizabeth Bridges “Tootsie” Rogers, age 93, of Barnesville, Georgia, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Elizabeth was born on Thursday, July 28, 1932, in Barnesville, Georgia, to the late Monroe Bridges and Ethel Mae Scandrick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Rogers, son, Hubert Rogers, Jr, sister, Stella Jordan.

At an early age Elizabeth learned that Jesus was the answer to all life’s problems. In 1944 she gave her life to Christ and joined the West Mount Sinai Baptist Church. Elizabeth was a member of the West Mount Sinai Senior Choir, Sunday School, Salt Ministry and Senior Misson Ministry. Elizabeth attended Lamar County Barnesville Industrial High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1953. She worked at Gordon College for many years and later worked in the nursery for First Baptist Church. She was loved by so many family and friends, she will be missed dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Sharon Rogers of Barnesville, Melinda Rogers Ball of Fredericksburg, Virginia; sons, Deacon James Baker Jr., Leonard Lovelace, Sammie Shropshire, Jr., Dan Bankston (Allison), Liam Bankston; grandchildren, Senior Chief Jathan P. Ball US Navy, Pensacola, Florida, Shaborah M. Ball, Nathaniel L. Ball of Fredericksburg, Virginia; 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.

A Funeral Service for Ms. Elizabeth Bridges “Tootsie” Rogers will be held Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at West Mount Sinai Baptist Church, with Deacon Grady McMichael, Reverend Jimmy Lyons, Reverend Garth Forster, Reverend Frank Henderson and Reverend Dr. Eddie Collier officiating. Interment will follow at West Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 20, 2026, from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M, at Williams-Westbury Funeral Home.
