Mrs. Elva Rose Lipscomb Schult, age 89, of Foley, Alabama, passed away on
Friday, July 31, 2026.
Elva was a traveler at heart. In her lifetime she saw nearly 30 countries, collecting stories, friends, and memories wherever she went. Her greatest adventure was Egypt, where she was fortunate to live for nearly a decade. She loved Egypt, its history, its beauty, its people. Her second favorite place was Foley, Alabama, where she was born and where she met Raymond Schult. It was there that their wonderful love story began a marriage that lasted 60 beautiful years until he passed.
If you knew Elva, you knew two things instantly, she had manners, and she had grace. She carried herself with such elegance, and she made everyone around her feel seen.
She was an aspiring author, who for many years was working on her book about her life in Egypt. She poured her heart into those pages. She didn't get to finish it herself, but her legacy will live on, as her granddaughter Nikki has lovingly volunteered to finish it for her. She also explored her artistic side by doing several oil paintings in her 40’s.
Elva was born on Tuesday, January 19, 1937, to the late Edward Preston Lipscomb and the late Nettie Mae Shepherd Lipscomb. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Vincent Schult, her brothers, George Lipscomb, Buddy Lipscomb, Ira Lipscomb, Walter Lipscomb, Vernon Mason, Robert Mason, Kenny Mason, and her sisters, Theresa Fell and Ruby Blount.
Elva is survived by her children, Mona and Bob Oglenski, Carolyn and Craig Wilson, Todd and Alison Schult; eight grandchildren, Brandon Oglenski, Lauren (Mike) Lionbarger, Ross Oglenski (late), Chuck (Amanda) Wilson, Bud (Angela Hermiz) Hodge, Browning (Brook Allen) Schult, Nikki (Daniel Corella) Wilson, Hannah (Kyle) Szalay, Jordan (Kyle Waligora) Brosch; 10 great-grandchildren, Caylee, Ellie, Bradley, Bronwyn, Nathan, Vanora, Alexandra, Abigail, Lucas, and Grayson; sisters, Ruth Lyles, Barbara Long and Linda Flack.
