Retired Lt. Col. Gale Deane Peterson, of Flovilla, GA died Sunday, April 29, 2012. He was born August 5, 1926 in Kimball, NE to the late Rasmus Peter and Erma Lois Beliel Peterson. He was retired from the US Air Force following 22 1/2 yrs of service and enjoyed flying, reading the Bible, telling stories, traveling, and loved spending time with his family. Gale is survived by his wife, Carole Peterson, of Flovilla; 3 daughters, Georgia Swearingen, of Houston, TX, Laura Peterson, of Tuscon, AR, Sandra Thomas, of Jackson, GA; 5 sons, Daniel Peterson, of North Georgia, James Peterson, of Jacksonville, FL, Christian Peterson, of Griffin, GA, Gabriel Peterson, of Jenkinsburg, GA, and David Peterson, of Indian Springs, GA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Richard Peterson, of Casper, WY, and Franklin Peterson, of Billings, MT; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Randy and Michael Peterson. Services will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 - 6:00 PM Wednesday evening. Sherrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Retired Lt. Col. Gale Peterson.
