Mr. Gary Lamar Childers, age 62, of Locust Grove, GA, died Saturday, January 1, 2011. He was born March 5, 1948 in Atlanta, GA to Glenn and Virginia Childers. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed football, western movies and fishing. Mr. Childers is survived by his wife, Beatrice Childers, of Locust Grove; 4 daughters, Tonya Childers, Carrie Childers, Christy and Kenny Wade, of Locust Grove, Brenda Taylor, of Griffin; 4 sons, Andy Taylor, of Stockbridge, James and Sandy Taylor, Michael Whitlock, and Gary Childers, Jr., all of Locust Grove; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 4 sisters, Teresa Gregory, Vanessa Vurgess, Doris Tessenair, Sylvia Jean Lynch, all of SC; 1 brother, Freddy Childers, of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Linda Prather and Darlene Brockman, and 1 brother, Thomas Childers. Funeral services for Mr. Gary Childers will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in the Chapel of Sherrell Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Simpson officiating. Interment will be at Camp Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 3, 2011 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
