Obituary

George Michael Mallory was born appropriately enough on April Fool's Day 1950 in Albany, Georgia. After graduating from Gordon Military college he joined the United States Navy serving a full four year term. After his military service he attended and graduated from Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science, a fact that he had no trouble reminding people about, usually as he was backing up some possibly spurious claim. After a short time in the Atlanta area he settled in West Georgia, where along with his love of funeral directing and radio engineering, he pursued other interests as far afield as exotic animal farming and embalming machine repair.

After his divorce he bounced around the middle Georgia area and finally settling in what he considered home, Barnesville. Michael was intellectually restless and always curious, and up until his final days, while he wasn't working one of his multiple jobs he could be found surrounded by books.

A lover of stray dogs who would never hesitate to take a moment out of his day for a kind word to a stranger he saw in distress and he could brighten up any room he entered. He will be missed by many, and those who met him only once will never forget him. After passing peacefully on January 27th, 2022, he left a large void in the lives of the ones who knew him well.

Michael is survived by his sister, two children, and three grandchildren.

While 99.9% of the time he was a sunbeam for Jesus, sometimes he could be a downright piecost.

No formal services will be held at this time for Mr. Mallory.
