Mrs. Helen Kersey Welch, age 99, of Jackson, GA, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Westbury Medical Care Home. She was born November 29, 1911 in Jackson to the late Ammon and Kelly Bennett Kersey. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Union Point. Mrs. Welch loved her family and enjoyed cooking and baking. Mrs. Helen Welch is survived by a sister, Margaret Stephens, of Jackson; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Shirley Kersey, of Jackson; grandson, Professor Jim Sisson, of Macon; son-in-law, Henry Sisson, of Union Point; special niece, Gail Hurst, of Jackson; special sister-in-law, Frankie Kersey, of Jackson; sister-in-law, Ruth Elliot, of Jackson; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Welch; daughter, Linda Welch Sisson; 3 sisters, Judy Lofton, Mary O'Neal, and Sue Kersey; and 4 brothers, Rogers Kersey, Jamie Kersey, Bob Kersey, and Van Kersey. Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Welch will be held Friday, March 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Sherrell Funeral Home with Professor Jim Sisson officiating. Interment will be at Worthville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday evening.
