Mr. Herbert Joseph Gatons, age 77, of Barnesville passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at his Residence. Mr. Gatons was born in Shelby County, Illinois to the late Mr. Frank Herbert Gatons and the Late Mrs. Ardis Brookings Gatons. He was a Retired Military Administrator and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Karen Gatons of Barnesville ; 3 Daughters – Terry Cordell of Peachtree City ; Toni Harrell of Savannah ; & Tracy Brown of Barnesville ; 1 Sister – Eunice Cavanaugh of Sioux Falls, South Dakota ; 5 Grandchildren – Matt Harrell ; Sam Garcia ; Paden Cordell ; Thomas Brown ; & Emily Brown ; & 1 Great Grandchild – Zoe Garcia.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Herbert Joseph Gatons will be conducted on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2 O' Clock at the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville with the Rev. Jay Tenney officiating. Entombment will be at 1:30 pm on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville, 375 Thomaston Street, Barnesville, GA 30204.
