Obituary

Mr. Jarvis "Bernard" Smith, age 89, of Meansville passed away Monday, March 15, 2010 in an Upson County Healthcare Facility. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Pike County. He was born to the late Mr. Earnest Brantley Smith and the late Mrs. Cora Lee Hurd Smith. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church since childhood. Mr. Smith was a proud member of the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII in the South Pacific, and was awarded a Bronze Star and Silver Star, plus several other awards. After WWII he returned home and farmed until his retirement.


Survivors include - 4 Brothers - Ernest Smith of Byron ; Eugene Smith of Riverdale ; Leslie Smith of Pike County ; & Lawrence Smith of Dublin ; 2 Sisters- Hazel Elliot of Thomaston ; & Louise Smith of Zebulon.


Funeral Services for Mr. Jarvis "Bernard" Smith will be conducted on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, March 16, 2010 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
