Obituary

Mr. Jimmy Lee Barnes, age 85, of Jackson, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022.



Jimmy was born on Thursday, May 6, 1937, in Jackson, Georgia to the late Marvin Otis Barnes and the late Lula Pike Barnes. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Jimmy served in the United States Army and was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. He was a musician and loved playing and singing songs. Jimmy also enjoyed tinkering with things, woodworking, and watching television.



Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Copeland Barnes; children, Brenda Hammond, Roy and Melissa Copeland; grandchildren, Michelle and David Cook, Timmy Copeland; several nieces and nephews.



A funeral service for Mr. Jimmy Barnes will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home and Family Ministries, 9250 Hutchesons Ferry Rd, Palmetto, GA 30268, www.georgiachildren.org.
