Jo Ann McMahan, age 88, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Jo Ann was born on Sunday, December 19, 1937, in Hokesbluff, Alabama to the late Elvin Guy Chesnut and the late Evelyn Tidwell Chesnut. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Lafayette McMahan. Jo Ann was a member of Towaliga Baptist Church, and she was devoted to her church and her faith. She was highly intelligent and valedictorian of her high school class. Also, a highly independent and very active, busy lady. Her favorite things to do were cooking, baking, sewing, and talking on the phone with her friends, and she loved flowers and hummingbirds. Jo Ann will be deeply missed.

Jo Ann is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Terri McMahan, and their children, Dustin McMahan and Morgan McMahan; and Randall and Tempie McMahan, and their children, Kaylen and Jonathan Weaver, Dalton McMahan; great-grandchildren, Teddy, Crue, Ali; sister-in-law, Bobbie Lou Chesnut.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jo Ann McMahan will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. at Towaliga Baptist Church with Dr. Jay Sanders and Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Interment will follow in Towaliga Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may visit the family two hours before the service from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Towaliga Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Rod Mangham, 667 Lee Maddox Road, Jackson, GA 30233 in memory of Jo Ann McMahan.
