Mrs. Joan Marie Whitmire Sanders, age 67, of Barnesville passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 in a Thomaston Healthcare Facility. A native of Atlanta, Mrs. Sanders was the daughter of the late Mr. Charles Cleo Whitmire and the late Mrs. Nellie Beatrice Whitmire. She was also preceded in death by a Grandson, Charles Douglas Sanders, Jr., and by a sister, Vivian Dockery. Mrs. Sanders was a Home Maker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include: Her husband - Doug Sanders of Barnesville ; 1 Daughter - Sandy (& Chris) Long of Barnesville ; 1 Son - Charles (& April) Sanders of Thomaston ; 2 Grandchildren - Brittney Long of Barnesville, & Cameron Sanders of Thomaston ; & 2 Brothers - Charles (& Elaine) Whitmire of McDonough, & Jerry (& Barbara) Whitmire of Stockbridge.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Joan Marie Sanders will be conducted Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 2 O'Clock in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with David Decker officiating. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 5pm until 7pm.
