Obituary

Mrs. Jones was born June 6, 1933 in Pike County, Georgia to the late Carl Guy Cochran, Sr. and the late Lucy Barrett Cochran. She was retired from the city of Barnesville after 32 years of service to the Barnesville community. During this time, she held positions on various boards and commissions. Her duties included those of city clerk and finance officer. Mrs. Jones also served as administrative assistant and ended her career after serving eight years as city administrator. She attended the Carl Vinson Institute at the University of Georgia in Athens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Pope Cannafax, her parents, and her brother, Mr. Carl G. Cochran, Jr.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Mr. James C. (Jimmy) Jones, of Barnesville and Macon, GA; sons, Lt. Col. John (Brenda) Cannafax of Eglin Air Force Base, FL and Mark (Christy) Cannafax of Zebulon, GA; a daughter, Mrs. Carla (Terry) Woodham of Griffin, GA; 7 grandchildren also survive.

. Funeral services for Mrs. Joanne Cannafax Jones, age 76, of 366 Redbud Drive, Barnesville, will be held Tuesday afternoon from the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home of Barnesville with the Rev. Jay Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in Fincher Memorial Cemetery in Meansville. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon prior to the service at Williams Funeral Home

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville or the American Cancer Society.
