John Erwin Morgan, Sr., age 85, of Jackson, GA, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Spalding Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 8, 1927 in Dalton, GA to the late Earl Morgan and the late Lucy Smith Morgan. He was a veteran of Korea and Viet Nam serving in the US Army for over 20years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Clark Morgan, and 2 brothers, Harold and Ray Morgan. John is survived by his daughters, Gail Morgan, of Jackson, and Gloria Morgan, of Douglasville; sons, John E. Morgan, Jr. and Dennis Morgan, both of Jackson; 1 grandson; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Martha Morgan, of TN; and several neices and nephews. Funeral services for John Morgan, Sr. will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Rudy Mangham officiating. Interment will be at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00PM Friday evening.
