Mr. John Russell (Rusty) Smith, age 60, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at the Regency Medical Center in Macon.

Mr. Smith was born January 6, 1955, son of the late Aaron Smith and Louise Fortson. He retired as a Master Sergeant after 24 years of service to our country with the U.S. Army. Mr. Smith was employed at Aegis Technology Group.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Shelia H. Smith of Concord; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John C. D. Smith, Sr. and his wife, Rose, of Marietta and John C. D. Smith, Jr. of Concord; two grandchildren, Haleigh Austin Smith and Brandon Cash Smith, both of Marietta; brother and sister--in-law, Michael Sterling and Bunnie Smith of High Point, NC; sister, Patricia Elaine Sanders of LaGrange, KY; 13 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 2:00 Saturday at the Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville with Rev. Garth Forster officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 before the service. Following the service, the family will receive friends at his home in Concord.
