Juanita Compton Medley, lovingly known as Nita, age 87, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026.

Nita was born on Monday, November 21, 1938, in Athens, Georgia to the late Thomas Dorsey Compton and the late Willie Mae Taylor Compton. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Medley; previous husband, Jay Spivey; brother, William Weyman Compton; sister, Anne Smith.

Nita was a member of Stark Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking, and loved to iron clothes. She also enjoyed being on Jackson Lake and traveling, especially sister trips. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Nita is survived by her children, Stanley Spivey (Anne), Janet Paulk (Jeff), Lynn Medley; grandchildren, Brooke de Jong (Jonny), Leigh Anne Cook (Tim), Colt Spivey (Laynie), William Paulk (Meghan), Benjamin Paulk (Nicole), Baxter Sewall; great-grandchildren, Micah Cook, McKayla Anne Lenderman, Ivey Jane de Jong, Katie Anne Spivey; sisters, Evelyn Cowart (Bill), Jennie Sturgis (Tom), Jo Harrison; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A funeral service for Nita Medley will be held on October 3, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Stark Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Mullis officiating. Friends may visit the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
