Judy McCarty Strickland, of Jackson, GA, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012. She was born July 31, 1938 in Union Point, GA to the late Henry and Rosa Callaway McCarty. Judy was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God, enjoyed cooking, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Judy is survived by 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Kirkland, of Maryville, TN, Donna and David Bowles, of Conyers, Sandy and Marty Long, of Jackson, Angie and Tony Williamson, of Jackson; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Pam McCarty, of Washington, GA, Randy McCarty, of Jackson, Tony Gilbert, of Stockbridge, Mike and Sherry Strickland, of Flovilla; 2 sisters, Sandra Knowles, of Rex, Cheryl Holsclaw of Washington, GA; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Strickland, 3 grandchildren, Bill McCarty, Nicole Dorough and Jessica McCarty. Funeral services for Judy Strickland will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Abundant Life Assembly of God with Pastor Bill Hamby and Brother Jerry Brooks officiating. Interment will be at Jackson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday evening.
