Kay Smith
Pedrotti
1944 — 2026
Milner
Mrs. Kay Smith Pedrotti passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday, August 10, 1944, to the late Victor Smith and the late Katherine B. Smith. Kay grew up in Albany Georgia alongside her younger sister, Vicki. In 1967, she met and married Robert J. Pedrotti, with whom she spent fifty-nine loving years. She is survived by Robert, her sister, Vicki Smith Berdit, children, Beth Underwood, Victor Pedrotti and wife Amy, daughter-in-law, Theresa Pedrotti, grandchildren, Adrien Underwood, Carmen Carver, Val Pedrotti, Aidan Pedrotti, Simone Pedrotti, and Henry Pedrotti, and countless beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her youngest son, Michael Pedrotti.
Kay was fiercely loving and protective of her family, a trait she freely extended to her children’s friends and her friends’ children, as well as her own. Later, this same love and care was directed to the children of her community through her involvement in the local school system, the Boys To Men program, and the cultural enrichment for all ages through her involvement with Lamar Arts. Kay was innovative and thoroughly committed to whatever she put her hand to, performing all tasks with her faith and loving heart as her guide. Her faith in Christ Jesus was exhibited daily by the testimony of her life. Whether captivating ears and hearts as a Lay Minister for both Lutheran and Methodist congregations or dealing wisely with life’s unexpected challenges of overcoming cancer and the premature death of her youngest son, Kay’s impact on others was undeniable.
Avid reader, sharp and insightful newspaper reporter, willing volunteer, program coordinator, public speaker, loyal wife, devoted mother and doting grandmother. Kay generously gave her time and attention. Those who were acquainted with her learned much, and grew from every encounter with this remarkable woman. Kay left a lasting legacy to us all and she will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
In lieu of flowers, her family would suggest donations to Lamar Arts, Hope Tree Ministries (Barnesville), or Barnesville First United Methodist Church, any of which would greatly be appreciated by people who loved her.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Kay Smith Pedrotti will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Barnesville First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Ann Mann and Reverend Gloria Wright officiating.
