Mr. Lester Lewis Chitwood, Age 88,of Barnesville passed away on Tuesday March 23, 2010 at a Barnesville Healthcare Facility. Mr. Chitwood was a native of Habersham County, but made his home here in Barnesville for a number of years. He was born to the late Mr. Charlie Franklin Chitwood and to the late Mrs. Katherine Chitwood. He was also preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters. He was a WW II Veteran of the South Pacific in the U.S. Army, and was a member, deacon, and also the president of his Sunday school class at the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was an inspector for the Ford Motor Company.

Survivors include- Wife – Mrs. Jeanette Chitwood of Barnesville; Daughter- Jan Bearden (& Mike) of Cartersville, GA; Step-Daughter – Martha Holloway (& Robert) of Barnesville; Step- Son-Joseph Downes (& Susan) of Joplin, Missouri; 3 Grandchildren; 6 Great-grandchildren; 4 Step- grandchildren; 4 step -great grandchildren; 2 Brothers- Luther Chitwood of Calhoun, GA; Gene Daniel of Calhoun, GA;

Funeral Services for Mr. Lester Lewis Chitwood will be conducted on Friday March 26, 2010 at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church of Barnesville. Interment will be at the Forest Hill Memorial Gardens in Forest Park, GA at 2:45 pm. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Thursday Evening March 25, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
