Mrs. Lillie Mae Hicks, age 108, of McDonough, GA, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at her residence. She was born on March 17, 1905 in Elberton, GA to the late Tom Fortson and the late Mary Fortson Blackwell. Mrs. Hicks was formerly employed at Mathis Brothers Bar B Q. She loved her pastor and her church and attended until ill health made it difficult for her. At that time, she began attending small churches near her home. She is preceded in death by her husband, K. C. Hicks; daughter, Carrie Mae Fortson Murray; and sister, Tommie Fortson.

Mrs. Hicks is survived by a large number of nieces and nephews including Michael and Bernita Tanner, of McDonough; Ebony and Terrance Reynolds, Chauntese and Ariya Tanner, Chelsea and Kentavious Henderson; sisters, Carrie Lee Blackwell and Ola Hurd, both of Elberton; and brother, Tennie Blackwell, of Cinncinatti, OH. She is also survived by her second family, the Bennie Mathis family.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Hicks will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Rock Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Henderson officiating. Interment will be follow at Woodward Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday evening.
