Mrs. Linda Pauline Sumner, age 84, of Barnesville, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Sacred Journey Hospice.

A native of Carroll County, Virginia, she had made her home in Lamar County for a number of years. She was the daughter of the late Wilford Harvey Sumner and the late Mrs. Cora Thomas Sumner of Mt. Airy, N.C. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Mr. Columbus Clyde Sumner, Son: Harvey Frank Sumner, Brothers: George L. Sumner and Clarence Robert Sumner of Mt. Airy, N.C.

Survivors include her Sons: Clyde E. Sumner, Sr. and his Wife Selina of Lenoir, N.C., Sterling "David" Sumner, Sr. of Barnesville, GA., and Lonnie Robert Sumner of Barnesville, GA.; Daughter: Susan Kay Sumner Hanks and her Husband Jimmy of Galax, VA.; Sister: Margaret Sumner Nichols; Brothers: Bill Sumner and his Wife Georgie, Charles Sumner and his Wife Dora, Lee Roy Sumner and his Wife Bonnie, all of Mt. Airy, N.C.; several Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.

A visitation for Mrs. Linda Pauline Sumner will be held on Friday, June 12th between the hours of 6 and 8 PM at Williams Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday at 2 PM in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. The Reverend Gray Williams will officiate. Interment will take place in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
