Obituary

Mrs. Louise Spann, age 75, of Barnesville, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016, at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin. Mrs. Spann was born September 25, 1940 in Atlanta, daughter of the late Quillion Robert and Phronie Luticia Griffith Burton. She retired from the City of Barnesville after 22 years of service and formerly worked at ADP for Georgia State Patrol. Mrs. Spann was a charter member of New Life Baptist Church and a Village Reader at the Lamar County Primary School. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Gary Spann.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Faye and Scott Evans of Barnesville; sisters and a brother-in-law, Elizabeth Hirdman of Albuquerque, NM; Faye and Elroy Hansen of Albuquerque, NM; Lenora Knight of Garden Grove, CA; Phronie Collins of Magnolia, TX, and a sister-in-law, Nancy Gray of Panama City, FL; a host of nieces and nephews; and long-time companion, Bryant Starling of Griffin. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Hirdman.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Monday at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Derek Lovelady and Dr. Mike Ruffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
