Marvin Gerald Talbot, Sr., age 65, of Jackson, GA, died Friday, June 24, 2011. He was born July 25, 1945 in Columbus, GA to the late Marvin Earl Talbot and Mabel Hudson Talbot. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in Viet Nam. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad. Gerald enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, mechanicing and riding his tractor. He enjoyed being with his mother and Gerald, Jr. playing the piano and his family singing. He loved his family and spending time with them. Gerald is survived by his wife, Judith Hix Talbot, of Jackson; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Glenn Bartrop, of Jackson; sons and daughters-in-law, Davin and Sandy Talbot, of MS, Reuben and Christy Talbot, of Griffin, Gerald, Jr. and Alison Talbot, of Griffin; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and one on the way; his mother, Mabel Talbot, of Columbus; 3 sisters; 3 brothers; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Dianne Talbot. Funeral services for Mr. Gerald Talbot, Sr. will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Nathan Dorsey, son, Gerald Talbot, Jr., and Pastor Cecil Norton officiating. Interment will be at Griffin Memorial Park in Griffin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made toward final expenses for Gerald. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at www.sherrellfh.com.
