Ms. Martha Sara Dunbar Glass, age 88, of Barnesville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
Sara was born on Monday, August 23, 1937, in Barnesville, Georgia to the late William Marvin Dunbar and the late Elizabeth Shouse Dunbar. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Milton Davis Glass, her sisters, Anne Mayes and Dell Tessmer.
Sara was devoted to her family and her Church. She was a military wife and moved frequently. She loved playing bridge, reading and doing puzzles. She was a master gardener.
Sara is survived by her children and their spouses, Charles Glass, Sara Ann Jernigan, Bill Glass (Frances), Jim Glass (Gina); grandchildren, Dee (Virginia) Jernigan, Gholson Glass (Alyssa), Spencer Glass (Lauren), Rowan Glass (Jack), Alex Glass, Luisa Glass; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Jernigan and Reese Jernigan; brother, Jim Dunbar, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested to make a donation in Memory of Sara Glass to Ferst Readers of Lamar County or Barnesville First United Methodist Church.
A Funeral Service for Ms. Martha Sara Dunbar Glass will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at Barnesville First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ann Mann officiating. Friends may visit the family on Sunday July 26, 2026, from 2:00P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the Church. Interment will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens.
