Mr. Michael M. (Mike) Chandler, age 72, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Piedmont-Henry Medical Center. Mike was born April 7, 1940 in Greenville, SC, son of the late Louise Bannister Chandler Hinson and the late Clarence Preston Chandler. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1958, in Decatur, GA, and from Appalachian State University in 1963, in Boone, NC. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a volunteer coach for the Jackson High School Red Devils and was a 35 year volunteer with the National Ski Patrol. Mike had his business, Beltline Enterprises LLC, for over 40 years. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he was chairman of the Board of Deacons. He also was a member of The Gideons International. Mike was married to Margaret (Peggy) Helen Harling in 1967, and they were married over 45 years. They have one son, Matthew Scott Chandler, and his wife Hilary, of Boulder, CO, and one daughter, Christine Harling Chandler Menezes, and her husband, Stanley N. Menezes, of Marietta, GA. They have one granddaughter, Katherine, and four grandsons, Desmond, Alex, Hayden, and Quincy. Mike also has one brother, Jerry Hinson, and wife, Renee, of Mountain View; three sisters, Marilyn and Rod Fox, of Elon College, Margaret and Paul Salsman, of Cumming, Holly and Gus Roberson, of Lexington, SC; sister-in-law, Mary Lee Kelly, of Harrison, AR; an aunt, Rose Kubler; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services for Mike Chandler will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Reverend Lane Sanders officiating. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 – 8 pm Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to "Live the Vision", Macedonia Baptist Church, 151 Macedonia Church Rd., Jackson, GA 30233, or The Gideons International, P.O.
