Mrs. Mildred Briscoe Rooks, age 81, of Barnesville passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Rooks was born in Upson County to the late Mr. Hewell Crawford Briscoe and the late Mrs. Susie Belle Steward Briscoe. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 Brothers, Mr. Hewil Briscoe & Mr. Leon Briscoe; 3 Sisters, Mrs. Louise Dixon White, Mrs. Betty Peeples, & Mrs. Mattie Smith; 1 Grandchild, Stephen Rooks; & a Beloved Daughter-in-law, Denise Abbott Rooks. Mrs. Rooks had been an Assembler for the William Carter Company, and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include: Her husband - William James Rooks of Barnesville ; 4 Sons - Floyd Rooks (and wife, Billie), Ricky Rooks (& wife, Gail), Neil Rooks, & Wade Rooks ; 3 Sisters - Mrs. Rosie Lewis (& husband, Jim) of Hendersonville, NC, Mrs. Lena Hudgins of Barnesville, & Mrs. Faye Caldwell (& husband, Emmett) of Acworth ; 12 Grandchildren, Lynne Lamberth, Chris Rooks, Tim Rooks, Ryan Rooks, Shanda Moore, Kevin Rooks, Jeremy Rooks, Nathaniel Rooks, Bethany Smith, David Rooks, Jordan Rooks, & Melissa Stephens ; 15 Great Grandchildren ; and a Number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Mildred Briscoe Rooks will be conducted Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 3 O'Clock in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with the Reverend Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Saturday, November 28, 2009 from 1pm until the service hour.
