Obituary

Mrs. Mildred Opal Smith, age 77, of Barnesville passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A lifelong resident of Lamar County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Mr. James Farrell Smith and the late Mrs. Della Mae Turner Smith. She was Retired as a Seamstress, having formerly worked at The William Carter Company. Mrs. Smith was a member of The Barnesville Revival Center.


Mrs. Smith is survived by: 1 Son - James Whitt (& Angie) of Thomaston ; 5 Daughters - Alice Daniel (& Leonard) of The Rock ; Lee Owenby (& Clifford) of Blairsville ; Jackie Odum (& Chris) of Blairsville ; Nancy Townsend of Blairsville; & Becky Allison (& Chris) of Pike County ; 3 Sisters - Mary Crews of Hampton ; Maxine Willis of Griffin ; & Martha Hambrick of Thomaston ; 14 Grandchildren & 16 Great Grandchildren also survive.


Funeral Services for Mrs. Mildred Smith will be conducted Thursday afternoon (8-13-09) at 2 O'Clock in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Wednesday (8-12-09) from 6pm until 8pm.
