Mr. Philip DeWitt Ard, Sr., age 75, of Barnesville passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at his residence. He was born May 14, 1940 in Williamsburg, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Mr. Albert Ard and the late Mrs. Lexie Virginia Gainey Ard and was also preceded in death by 3 brothers- Joe Ard, Douglas Ard, and Mike Ard. Mr. Ard retired as an inspector from the Ford Motor Company and was a member at Lilla Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Ard and his wife loved to travel, whether jumping in the car or taking a vacation in the motor home.

Survivors include his wife- Bobbie Ard: 3 Sons- Philip Ard Jr. (& Misty) of McDonough, GA, Tim Ard (& Becky) of Griffin, GA, and Scott Ard (& Tammy) of McDonough, GA: 9 Grandchildren- Megan Fort, Brie Harrison, Kylie Ard, Bryant Ard, Hannah Ard, Caroline Ard, Kevin Ard, Jason Ard, and Amy Ard: 2 Great Grandchildren- Sawyer Fort, and Reeves Harrison: 3 Sisters- Bertha Ann Chandler (& Don), Phyllis Earls (& Dennis), and Peggy Sutton (& Danny): 1 Brother- Aubrey Ard (& Janie).

Funeral Services for Mr. Philip DeWitt Ard, Sr. will be conducted Sunday, October 11, 2015, at 2 O'clock at Lilla Memorial Baptist Church with The Reverend Rex Kessler officiating. Interment will follow in the Lilla Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 6pm until 8pm.
