Mrs. Polly Smith Scott, age 91, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at Spalding Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Scott was born March 5, 1923 in Griffin, Georgia to the late Lindsey Smith and the late Isma Callahan Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Scott. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she was known as Mother of the Church.

Mrs. Scott is survived by her dear friends, Verla and Lamar Mayo, Linda and Wayne Dillon; cousins, John Callahan, Jake Callahan, and Jeff Callahan; niece, Carol Head; her church family of Liberty Baptist Church and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Polly S. Scott will be conducted on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with Reverend Arthur Jett and Reverend Lamar Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Reverend Hurtis Howell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Scott will lie in state at the church on Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund, 3043 High Falls Road, Jackson, Georgia 30233 in memory of Mrs. Polly S. Scott.
