Mrs. Rachel Ann Mitchell Merritt, age 73, of Jackson, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

Rachel was born on Monday, July 3, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Floyd Joseph Mitchell and the late Sadie Dupree Mitchell.  Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Virgil Lamar Merritt. Rachel was of Baptist faith and worked at American Woodmark. She enjoyed cooking and bred Pomeranians.

Rachel is survived by her children, Buddy Merritt, Cindy Simmons, Melissa Merritt; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
