Obituary

Mr. Robert Edward Abood, age 85, of Monticello, GA, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Brightmoor Hospice. He was born on Tuesday, November 3, 1931 in Champlain, NY to the late Roy Abood and the late Leila Jennette Abood. Mr. Abood proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Korean Conflict. Before his retirement, he was a NY state trooper, operated a garage with his father, and then worked for St. Ives Publishing Company in Hollywood, FL. Mr. Abood was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by sons, David Abood and Robert Winchell; granddaughter, Leanne Abood; and sister, Phyllis Bolia.


Mr. Abood is survived by his wife, Kathleen Conyers Abood; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Debbie Abood, Mark and Terry Abood, Roy and Colleen Abood; step-sons, Jeff Winchell and James Winchell; sister, Joan Abood Edelberg; 6 nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Kevin, Jr., Corey, Chase, Jesse Dutton, Redawna Jackson, Sean Winchell, Michelle Winchell, Dillon Winchell, Lauren Winchell, Kai Winchell, Ryan Gusciewicz, Phoebe Krist; and great-grandchildren, Adrianna Abood, Emma Jackson, and Collin Gusciewicz.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Mr. Abood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at St. Mary Mother of God Catholic Church with Father José Kochuparampil officiating. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfh.com


The Sherrell-Westbury Funeral Home, 212 E. College St., Jackson, is serving the Abood family.
