Mr. Roy Staples, Jr., of Jackson, GA, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Vitas Hospice. He was born September 13, 1933 in Conley, GA to the late Roy Robert and Leecie Mae Grier Staples. Roy served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Ancient York Masonic Lodge 127, Shriners Yarab Temple Atlanta, and Towaliga Baptist Church. He also loved woodworking, hunting and fishing, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Staples is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Wilson Staples, of Jackson; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Cindy Staples, of Snellville, Keith and Sharon Staples, of Jackson, Ted and Kim Staples, of Jackson, Todd and Sharon Staples, of Augusta; sister, Dorothy Thompson, of Mableton; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Staples, and sister, Louise Nicholson. Mr. Roy Staples, Jr. will be carried to lie in state from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Towaliga Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jay Sanders officiating. Interment will be at Towaliga Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday.
