Mr. Roy Edward Varnum, age 75, of Flovilla, GA, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon, Georgia. Mr. Varnum was born on Tuesday, March 26, 1940 in Fort Valley, Georgia to the late Lee Roy Varnum and the late Margaret Barfield Varnum Riddle. He is preceded in death by his step-father, Ensign Riddle and a grandson, Shane McCord. Mr. Varnum was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, restoring old tractors, radio controlled model airplanes, boating and spending time with his family. Mr. Varnum is survived by his wife, Mae Lummus Varnum; children, Letha and Ray Kinard, Brenda Ricketts, Grady Wilson, Jr., Robert Wilson, Lynn and Tommy Bailey, and Wanda Watts; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Varnum, and Gerald Varnum; sister, Ann Middlebrooks; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services for Mr. Roy Varnum will be conducted on Tuesday, December 15, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Rudy L. Mangham officiating. Interment will follow in Flovilla South Cemetery.
