Susanne Marie Hogg Shadburne Lizotte, age 81, was born in February 1945, to Robert T. and Phyllis Hogg in Melrose, Massachusetts. She passed away on May 4th, 2026, surrounded by her family. Susanne spent her childhood and teenage years in Wakefield, MA and lived there until moving to Louisville, KY in 1970.
In Louisville she worked as a HeadStart teacher and drove school buses for Jefferson County Public Schools. She also volunteered driving the bus for Walnut Street Baptist Church Children’s and senior citizen activities.
In 1989 she returned to Massachusetts where she met her husband, John. They were married in November 2003. Together the two enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, and visiting quilt shops along the road between Georgia, Kentucky, and Massachusetts.
Susanne loved quilting and was a member of several quilt guilds in Georgia. She was happiest in her quilting room sewing or cutting pieces for the next quilt.
In addition to her husband John, to cherish her memory she leaves behind her six children, Charlotte Sanford (Rick Taylor), Michael Stigers, Christine (Patrick) Wentworth, Sarah (Todd) McClellan, Stephanie (Lee) MacFarlane, and Robert (Becky) Shadburne. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, Miranda, Cali, Reece, Tucker, Savannah, Gwyneth, Thomas, Ronin, Wynter, and Becca; one great grandchild, Colton, and two additional great grandchildren are expected soon. She will be missed by her sisters, Trudy Durland and Cindy Clark, as well as her many nieces, nephews and friends.
