Mrs. Sylvia Irene Walker Meares, age 70, of Flovilla, Georgia, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015. Mrs. Meares was born on Tuesday, January 16, 1945 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Dorsey Watson Walker and the late Novie Irene Dunaway Walker. Sylvia was preceded in death by her sister, Olivia Walker. She served for over 24 years as a Chaplain for the Henry County Jail.

Mrs. Meares is survived by her husband, Gerald Meares; daughters, Portia Orr, and Andrea Fisher; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Vickie White; brothers, Wayne Walker, and Timothy Walker; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Meares will be conducted on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sherrell Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in the North Atlanta Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Those who wish may sign the online guest registry at www.sherrell-westburyfh.com
