Mr. Thomas Asbury Sappington, Jr., age 59, of Barnesville passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009 at his residence. A native of Upson County, Mr. Sappington had made his home in Lamar County for a number of years. Son of the late Dr. Thomas "T.A." Sappington and the late Mrs. Phyllis Alma Duncan Sappington, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Susan "Terry" Ruffin Sappington, and by a sister, Mrs. Phyllis Sappington Kellam. Mr. Sappington Retired as a District Supervisor with the Department of Agriculture, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville.

Survivors include: His Daughter - Niki Sappington of Barnesville ; His Son - Josh Sappington (& his wife, Sherrie) of Barnesville ; His Sister - Kay Sappington Kellum of Birmingham, AL ; & 4 Grandchildren - Thomas Asbury Sappington, IV, Susan AnnMarie Sappington, Haiden Luke Sappington, & Jennifer Susan Beverly.

Funeral Services for Mr. Thomas Asbury Sappington Jr. will be conducted Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 11 O'Clock in the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville with Dr. Jeff Morgan and Reverend Jay Tenney officiating. Interment will follow in the Sappington-Owen-Bush Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Tuesday evening (May 5, 2009) from 6pm until 8pm.
