Tommy Lee Strickland, age 84, of Hampton, GA, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012. He was born August 8, 1927 in Atlanta, GA to the late John Tolbert and Leila Gaines Strickland. Tommy was a Mason, a member at the Glenwood Hills Masonic Lodge, Atlanta, GA. He enjoyed golf, gardening, fishing, yard work, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Strickland; sisters, Mary Nash and Jessie Cato; brothers, Clifford and Clarence Strickland. Tommy is survived by his wife, Nettie Strickland, Hampton; daughter, Deborah and Joseph English, Bremen; 4 sons, Steven and Jackie Strickland, Statham, Ricky Strickland, Carrolton, Ron and Teresa Terrell, Doraville, Gary and Cecilia Terrell, McDonough; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond Strickland, Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Tommy Strickland will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Sherrell Memorial Chapel with Mr. Ralph Wilson officiating. Interment will be at Jackson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 - until time of service Sunday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
