Mrs. Virginia McKenzie Phillips, 93, of Sharpsburg, formerly of LaGrange passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at Avalon Nursing and Rehab in Newnan.

She was born January 2, 1922 in Franklin, daughter of the late B.B. and Etta Crews McKenzie. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Heatherwood Baptist Church of Newnan. She retired from the Civil Service, U.S. Army, and received the fourth highest Department of the Army honorary award for civilian service.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Phillips Mease, son, Larry Phillips, both of Newnan; grandson, Bart Mease of Mississippi; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Shelly and Michael Parrott; great-grandsons, Mason, Maxwell, and Mercer; and a special daughter-in-law, JoAnn Phillips, all of Newnan. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin "Bud" T. Phillips, and a grandson, Richard Mease.

Graveside services for Mrs. Virginia McKenzie Phillips will be at 2:00 Wednesday at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange with George Wallace officiating.
